Piper Arrow
Get More Leg Room with the Piper Arrow
The Piper Aircraft Company has manufactured just about 160 aircraft models throughout its history, and released just about 144,000 single and twin engine aircraft, as well as jets in total. One of the more recognizable models released by the company is the Piper Arrow aircraft, which was originally introduced in 1967 as the 180 hp PA-28R-180 Arrow.
Further developments were made to the Piper Arrow in 1969, when the PA-28R-200 model was introduced. This 200 hp version of the Arrow basically replaced the 180, which was dropped after 1971. It also came with a more powerful engine, which was a feature welcomed by customers. The Arrow would go on to be manufactured for quite a number of years after. And the company probably had no idea that it would have as good a resale value as it still does today.
In 1972, Piper released the Arrow II with a 5” fuselage stretch compared to the 200 hp Arrow, thereby providing more leg room for passengers. This model was closely followed five years later by the Arrow III or PA-28R-201. It, too, came with a 200 hp engine. What made it different is that this model came with better low-speed handling as well as larger fuel tanks to accommodate longer travel.
Two years later in 1979, the Arrow IV was manufactured, and was built with a “T” tail to resemble the other Piper aircraft that were manufactured at the time. All models of the Piper Arrow aircraft were designed with retractable gears and the 200 that was released in 1969 had a constant speed propeller. In general, the Piper Arrow models provided good leg room space for passengers as well as large baggage capacity. This made them popular for personal and recreational use, and it is very easy to find a Piper Arrow for sale today.
On average, the maximum speed is about 183 knots, with a cruise speed of about 135 knots. The maximum altitude for the aircraft in the Piper Arrow series is about 16,200 feet. Although it is not necessarily the most powerful or capable Piper model, the Arrow is certainly very reliable and provides consistent service. Settling on a Piper Arrow aircraft is a good idea if you are looking for a model that provides very reliable recreational service.
A used Piper Arrow is available from several resellers of aircraft, including individuals. Although the company no longer manufactures this model, it still remains one of the popular purchases as a used aircraft today. This, of course, is due to its efficiency as well as its sturdiness as a light aircraft. If you are interested in a used aircraft that will serve you well, try to find a used Piper Arrow. You definitely will not be disappointed.
