The Twin Engine Power of the Piper Seneca

Throughout its many years of operation, Piper Aircraft Inc. released several single-engine light aircraft, as well as a number of twin engine planes. Of particular interest is the Piper Seneca, which was originally invented as the twin engine version of the Piper Cherokee Six. The Piper Seneca, or the PA-34 Seneca, is a twin engine light aircraft that has been in production by Piper since 1971. Of course, the models have since improved, and in 2009, the company was still manufacturing more high-end models of the aircraft. The Piper Seneca was developed to cater to people interested in personal or business flying. It was an ideal aircraft for people going on long trips for business or vacation.

In 1975, the Piper Seneca II, or PA-34-200 T, came on stream because of complaints from customers about the handling qualities of previous models. Piper Aircraft Inc. ensured that the Seneca II corrected all of those problems reported by customers. In addition, it included a turbocharged six cylinder Continental engine for improved performance, hence the “T” at the end of the model number.

The Piper Seneca II also introduced the concept of club seating in aircraft, which had the center row seats facing rear and the back seats facing forward. This provided much more leg room for passengers as well as better ability for them to interact with each other better. Generally, the Seneca 2 catered to 5 to 6 passengers, and offered a maximum cruise speed of 198 knots, with a maximum ceiling of 25,000 feet.

In between the 1970s and 1990s, there were several other models of the Seneca. However, one other noteworthy model was the Piper Seneca V, which was certified in December 1996 and put into production as a 1998 model. This model also comes with club seating and spectacular expansive windows that give both pilots and passengers awesome views of the ocean and land areas the plane can fly over. Again, with both engines, the Seneca V caters to a 25,000 foot ceiling, with a single engine being able to take the aircraft to 16,500 feet when full.

The Piper Seneca aircraft is known to be ideal if you are flying for an extended period of time over mountains or expansive bodies of water. It also works well for night flying, and gives the pilot and passengers peace of mind knowing that it will effectively take them from point to point.

The Piper Seneca, whether the original model or a more recent one, is ideal for your business travel as well as personal needs, especially if you want the capability to carry a lot of weight.
